Remembering My Calling

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” [Ephesians 2:10]

God has been good to me and this year once again He has allowed me to continue working as Director of Camp Agape. I have questioned my calling to this work many times but recently He has been reminding and encouraging me saying that He is continually equipping me with his divine wisdom to carry out this BIG CALLING to be His disciples and witness of Christ in our Judea (Copán Ruinas). Day after day our work is constant giving love to, teaching, playing with and instructing our kids and young people.

It is evident that we are the ones God chose beforehand, we are the ones to touch these young lives that, little by little, are being transformed with values, respect for life and others, and being taught to keep going regardless of our circumstances.

I feel honored to be fulfilling my calling to the work of Christ in Camp Agape and my path will always be to present a good testimony investing in the ‘least of these’ and in those that have travelled the road of life a bit longer: our young people.

During one of our Special Fridays we did a short activity with the 3rd and 4th graders, asking them where they had seen God in their lives the previous week. It was not easy for them to grasp at the start as this is not something that kids at their age are usually asked to do or say.  Nevertheless, in the end it was wonderful to see them firstly losing their fear of speaking in front of others and secondly expressing their feelings. Little by little those sweet, small and tender voices began to arise: ‘I saw God in my good exam results’, ‘when I was getting my homework marked I was nervous thinking that it was all wrong but this wasn’t the case, it was correct!’

I believe that God wants us to be teaching our children to think about where they see Him every day. Thanks to UrbanPromise Honduras we can do this type of activity with our children and carry them to new levels of faith, love and knowledge of what He does for us every day.

I am so happy to be serving in Camp Agape and it is one of those places where I hope to be found when Christ comes again.
