The Seed Sprouts Forth

When I began in UPH as Camp Hope Director in 2014 I had the opportunity to disciple many children. There were very difficult moments as discipline was a huge challenge in camp. On a few occasions it was difficult at the end of a long day to think that the children with discipline issues had no interest in improving their behavior. On occasion there were kids, due to their rebelliousness and the discipline we applied, that threw rocks at the roof of the school in which camp took place. The youth leaders got discouraged by the situation, but God is faithful, and He spoke to us through prayer and UPH’s vision.

We began with steps of faith to see change in the lives of these youngsters. The youth had to apply different methodologies in order that the kids understood why they should behave.

Starting Vacation Camps this year I realized that many of the children that behaved poorly in 2014 were now serving as Leaders-in-Training (LJAs)! I am filled with joy to be able to see how the Word of God has power to transform lives and to mould character, and to know His unconditional love. It gives me joy to know that those children in 2014 are now leaders in our After School Programs, and it gives me hope that the new kids in Camp Hope and Agape will be yet another new generation of servant leaders.

I give thanks to UrbanPromise Honduras for investing in the children and young people of our communities; children and youth that have never heard of Jesus, that He is love, and that He is our Teacher and Shepherd. UPH declares the Kingdom of God through Bible Classes but also through the living testimony of our Directors. They inspire others to believe in the King of Kings.

I finish with the verse in Matthew 13:23, “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
