After School Program
The AfterSchool Program targets those hours after school where parents might not be at home and children are at their most vulnerable. These tend to be the hours in which most disruptive behavior occurs and as such, by providing children with homework assistance, interactive classes, games and a snack we hope to minimize those types of activities while promoting education and their general wellbeing.
The program is neighborhood based in two different sites in Copán Ruinas and is available to 1st through 6th graders in the public school system. Each year our AfterSchool Program serves approximately 80 children, with each child receiving two English classes and two Bible classes a week and one health, art, discovery and cooking class every other week.
During the year we also have special events which include a trip to a water park, a spelling bee, Christmas pageant, a year end dinner, and a trip to visit a university.
