AfterSchool Program

The AfterSchool Program targets those hours after school where parents might not be at home and children are at their most vulnerable. These tend to be the hours in which most disruptive behavior occurs; but by providing children with homework assistance, snacks, and interactive classes, we hope to minimize those types of activities while promoting education and their general wellbeing.

The program is based in two different neighborhoods in Copán Ruinas and is available to first- through sixth-graders in the public school system. Each year our AfterSchool Program serves approximately 80 children and employs 16 local youth.

During the year we also have special events which include a trip to a water park, a spelling bee, Mother's and Father's Day events, and educational trips to different cities in Honduras.
