Service Learning Groups

Service Learning Groups typically spend six days with us, learning about and serving in our AfterSchool Program or Vacation Camps. We approach our trips in a different way than most and encourage you to come to our community first and foremost as learners. We personally know that the people who live and serve in the community of Copán Ruinas have an abundance of knowledge to offer our visitors by showing them the beautiful culture of Honduras. We promise to do our part by arranging opportunities for your group to interact with the people in our community by hearing their stories and learning from their examples.

Groups are guided through their experience by our Visitors Director, who organizes orientation, debrief, translation, and outings to touristic sites like the Mayan ruins and Macaw Mountain bird park. You can expect to try new foods, see new sights and hear new sounds during your week with us. Relationship building can look like playing soccer, performing skits, or talking through one of our translators. The language barrier is not a problem on our trips, as we have translators available to you at all times!

SLGs are a great way to get involved with UrbanPromise Honduras. Come as a church Missions Team, with an organization, a business or as a friendship group or family. Opportunities are available during most weeks of the year and are ideal for churches, youth groups, college groups, etc. looking for a great opportunity to serve and learn in a cross-cultural context.
