⚽ Youth Afternoons
During youth afternoons, we enhance the After-School Camps team's spiritual, social, and physical-emotional aspects. The session began with a dynamic exercise to develop discernment and analysis skills—the dynamic involved acting differently and fostering empathy and awareness. Participants shared personal opinions and experiences of thinking differently. Reflection and reaffirmation of outstanding leaders' qualities followed.
🏸 Apprentice Facilitators training sessions
This group of adolescents aims to become the next leaders of our future camps. It began with a hike along the trail to the Ruins of Copan. The young people enjoyed some activities and shared their experiences and learnings from the camp. They then reflected on "Getting to Know Me Through My Qualities" and shared personal characteristics that make them unique and special individuals. This topic aimed to affirm the self-esteem of young people.
🌞 Camps Ágape, Vida, and Victoria
Traditional Games: In Honduras, various traditional games are passed from generation to generation. Many of our children experienced these games for the first time at our camps.
Democratic lessons: We continue to give our children the opportunity to live the democratic experience, where they vote and choose the candidate for president of the Children's Camp Board.
Children's Sexual Education: Our youth approach this subject lightheartedly, with occasional giggles around the topic. Still, they need to know about this subject, which we had mature responses from them.
Camp’s Parents Meeting: Every month, we invite our children's parents to the camp so we can talk about their children's progress, our activities, as well as the financial aspects of the camp. All the shared highlights inspired them, and they were even more committed to developing the camps and their kids.
Team time: We held team times to give feedback on our activities; we shared potential projects/ideas, victories, and highlights. Between meals and movies, we generate camaraderie among all.

Marathon in San Pedro Sula
After several days of training, the day finally came to participate in the La Prensa (Honduran newspaper) Marathon. Our training—"Run at your own pace, Do for others"— was used to overcome physical, social, and personal challenges. With Proverbs 3:27 as inspiration, "Do not refuse to do good to those who need it, when you know that it is in your power to do it."
Running with around 5,000 international athletes was inspiring. We are proud of our youth, who, given an opportunity, shine brightly among thousands of people. Miguel Rodríguez, one of our youth who excelled in the 10.5K race, came in 31st place among all the runners in his category!
Service in local church of San Pedro Sula
We took advantage of the trip to the marathon to also serve with leadership. Our UPH colleague, Carmen Sierra, a Fellow of the 2023 cohort, will develop her vision for her affiliate site in San Pedro Sula next year. We visited where she plans to start her project in the Gerizim church.
Our youth stood out and interacted naturally with the children, who were surprised to receive so many superheroes!
