🥽 AfterSchool Camps Retreats and closing ceremonies
👟 Copán Run

Masks, capes, and signs lay on the floor. Groups of two to three people fill the office terrace. Another beautiful morning, somewhat cold but perfect for laughter among colleagues; in the background, the macaws fly towards the mountains. As we often say, this is just “another day at the UPH office.”
Once again, accentuated contrasts are present in the span of a few days. A few weeks ago, we culminated our AfterSchool Camps with closing ceremonies—If you don't remember those events, read our newsletter from a year ago, but BE CAREFUL! Tears attached.
And today, these small groups stand in front of a camera, superheroes not only in disguise, but in essence. They laugh, pose, and hold up banners as the others cheer in encouragement. Yesterday, they said goodbye to their empowered youth and children, who are ready to eat the whole wide world, and today, they prepare to receive another new cohort for our Vacation Camps by doing one of the things they do best: enjoy themselves, enjoy life, enjoy with and for others.
When the AfterSchool camps have ended, our directors and co-directors are again assigned to different teams for next year's Vacation camps. Maybe to the naked eye, these capes and masks are an overkill for such a simple team member combination.
But for the trained, visionary eye, this is a declaration, a pact between us. A covenant we make that essentially says: “Whatever you do, do it as unto God.” We promise each other not to miss any details or opportunities to honor our neighbors to the fullest. We must not let down our co-workers and youth under our charge or children who follow us.
Regardless of the size of the task, we will do our premium work—Whatever we do, we’ll do as unto God to honor our neighbor. If we see any crestfallen look from a child, we’ll do our best—Whatever we do, we’ll do as unto God to honor our neighbor. We won’t let any hurtful comments slip among youth because it can trigger self-esteem problems—Whatever we do, we’ll do as unto God to honor our neighbor.
The synergy and commitment of this team are so great that if you add one plus one, it equals three.
Because if these superheroes know anything, it is that on their shoulders are the efforts of every mother who accompanies her daughter to camp, of every father who helps his young man to study, of each donor who, with faith, shares with us what was given to them.
These are the leaders you want in front of the new generations; these are the captains you want to believe in and bet on. At the end of the day, the efforts of many people around the world who believe in UrbanPromise rest on them. Your support remains securely under these heroes. Thank you for doing to us what you do unto God.
